Eye examinations are undertaken personally by Dolores and will usually last about 30 minutes. The practice’s consulting room is equipped with the latest ophthalmic instruments to ensure that you receive a thorough eye examination. We also offer OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) 3D scanning which helps us to view the health of your eyes in greater detail, by allowing us to see what’s going on beneath the surface of the eye.
Regular eye examinations are important whether or not you currently wear glasses as they can assist in the early detection of eye and other diseases such as diabetes and glaucoma. It is generally recommended that adults have an eye test every two years.
Many people are entitled to NHS funded eye examinations. This includes:
- Children under 16 or aged 17, 18 or 19 if in full time education.
- People over 60
- Diabetics
- Anyone over the age of 40 with a family history of Glaucoma
- Those in receipt of certain benefits.
The current cost of a private eye test is £35.00. OCT is at an extra cost on private and NHS tests.
