All our Opticians are professionally qualified and are registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
The GOC is the regulator for the optical professions in the UK. Its purpose is to protect the public by promoting high standards of education, performance and conduct amongst opticians. It currently registers around 25,000 optometrists, dispensing opticians, student opticians and optical businesses.
Our Optometrists are also registered with Association of Optometrists (AOP) and the College of Optometrists.
Our Dispensing Opticians are also registered with the Association Of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO)
All of our Opticians participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) which is a requirement of the GOC. This scheme keeps all registered Opticians up-to-date with current regulations, products and treatments.
We are members of the Federation of Small Businesses.
MEET THE TEAM
Dolores established the practice in 2002 with the aim of providing a high quality personalised eye-care service and still enjoys doing this. Originally from Northern Ireland she has 30 years experience, mainly in independent practice and is enthusiastic about keeping up to date with new developments in optometry. Outside work , she is fully occupied organising her teenage children, husband and wayward dog but still fits in some cycling, running, reading and cookery.
Amy has worked in optics since 1996 and has been working at our practice since it opened in October 2002. Over the years Amy has developed a wealth of experience and product knowledge. Responsible for dealing with representatives from frame and lens companies, she ensures that we are stocked with the latest styles and best quality frames. She works Monday to Wednesday and alternate Saturdays, and in her spare time between looking after her family and dog, she enjoys travelling, reading and going to the gym.
Donna joined us initially in 2009 as a locum and became a permanent member of staff in 2012 after the birth of her second child. Working Thursday, Friday and alternate Saturdays, she is passionate about dispensing, the best fitting frame and advising on the best individual lenses for the patient. She also is an expert in fiddly repairs. She has a young family who keep her busy in her spare time.
Kirsty started working here in June 2014 after many years in the tax office. She brings efficient administrative skills and computer knowledge to keep the practice running efficiently. She has recently gained an Optical Assistant qualification enabling her to help patients when choosing spectacles and carrying out small repairs to frames. She works 3 and a half days a week to fit in with the demands of a young family.
